About
Jeremy Guy (English – b. 1966)
Jeremy developed a distinct sensitivity to materials and environments as a means of coping with childhood illness, utilizing a self-taught, meditative approach. This practice, grounded in observation, led to a passion for drawing and model making, laying the foundation for his BA (Hons) in Product Design. His transition to expressive abstract sculpture was further influenced by local sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.
Faced with his own mortality at an early age, Jeremy developed a philosophical outlook rooted in the realization of life’s fragility. He sees a direct relationship between the limitations of our time and the creation of timeless design—balancing the realities of biology with the expression of transcendent beauty. Informed by this perspective, his sculptures embrace the ‘new’ while seeking to remind us of our place in nature, elevating our everyday experiences through elegant form.
For over 20 years, Jeremy has created works for public and private collections around the world. He now lives and works in the beautiful and inspiring surroundings of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
